Reducing our Toxic Load
Toxins are real, we are surrounded by them wherever we look. They are in the air we breath, the food we eat, the water we drink, the products we put on our skin, the products we use around our houses.
Some people seem to say that this is OK and that our body can remove toxins. But if we actually look at what is going on, we will see that our bodies are not handling this at all. Our livers are not keeping up with what is being placed on them. Lab testing is now proving that we are toxic, we have become overloaded, cancer and disease is on the rise - babies are even being born with toxicities......Pretty much the exposure to these toxic particles just adds to the filling up of our own personal rain barrel. At some point it starts to overflow and we end up with disease.
THE GOOD NEWS IS.....
We can easily rid our lives of some of these toxins and we can also do regular detoxes to help the body to better rid itself of these toxins. One of the problems with toxins is that they are hidden in everyday products that we use. Baby bottles, non stick frypans, air freshners, household cleaners, mold, carpet, paint, contaminated water, EMFs.......
I have found this to be a really easy swap out for people though. Most people are not emotionally attached to their cleaning products so it can be an easy swap. Unlike talking about food for example which people have a very emotional attachment to. Changing some of the products you use on a daily basis can go a long way to help decrease your toxic exposure.
HERE ARE A FEW THINGS YOU CAN DO.
I find the easiest change to make is to get rid of chemical based cleaning products around your house. Again, there are so many natural options here. You can make your own using natural ingredients or if you don't want to go to that level there are so many natural options at the super market these days..... It is a NO BRAINER really. This goes for toilet paper and sanitary products as well.
Use only organic and natural products on your skin. There are so many options these days, so there is no excuse really. Think of it this way, if you are going to be putting it on your skin then you should be prepared to eat it!!! Including toothpastes and mouth washes.
Get rid of plastic from your house. Most contain BPA or other chemicals that are hormone disruptors, and I learnt today that by heating and freezing food in plastic containers it leaches more chemicals into your food - Wow.. heating makes sense but hadn't thought about freezing being an issue! Non stick surfaces??? Personally I would throw them away... Fry pans etc.... just not worth the risk. Leaching chemicals - YUCK - it is one of the top 10 carcinogens!
Clean food - Buy organic where you can. Grow your own where you can. Use the Dirty Dozen and the Clean 15 rules for buying organic and non organic. www.ewg.org/foodnews/clean-fifteen.php - this changes annually so worth checking each year) Put a water filter on your house.
Get rid of chlorine and fluoride and anything else that is lurking. You don't want to be drinking it and you don't want to be showering in it as well. Your skin is the biggest organ in your body, you don't want to be putting toxic water on it (or products). Filters shouldn't cost the earth, you don't need the most complicated of filters, most things have been killed by the chlorine in it, so really you just need to get the chlorine out (and of course fluoride as well if you have it in your water). I use another filter for my drinking water to re-mineralise the water again so we are not drinking DEAD water.
I am also big on using EMF blockers around the house and on our devices to help minimise toxic exposure to EMF's. I also use a healthy dentist to offer a continued natural approach to my mouth health and also to remove any toxic filings I have.
There is still so much more for me to do as well, but I am just working on one thing at a time....
If you are still in doubt as to whether toxic overload is an issue or not. 232 toxic chemicals have been found in the umbilical cord blood of US newborns... there are more toxins found in children as they can't detox as well as adults.
These changes are easy people. I am not asking you to cut out your favourite food or to stop drinking (haha that will come later!!)... These are no brainers for me, surely there is no emotional attachment to what cleaning product you are using...
Start off by making one change at a time, and that might be to get rid of toxic standard cleaning products from your house. Make that part of your normal routine and then add something else that you want to change.
Later on I will talk about getting the toxins out of your body by doing regular phase I and phase II liver detoxification. Toxins are stored in fat, so we need to detox to get it out of our fat. But in the meantime know there are lots of easy changes you can make to help you and your family minimise your toxic over load.
Enjoy making a few changes!!!
Have an awesome day out there. Mel xx
